biography

Theresa McGraw picked up her first camera when she was about 9 years old and thanks to her mother and father and their interests in photography she was encouraged to pursue photography. Theresa studied and used her father’s darkroom equipment to learn the “Zone System” developed by Ansel Adams. She later outgrew the equipment and space at home and could be found in the photo lab at a nearby Army base where she later met and married her husband Chris who also shares a passion for photography and computers.

After pursuing other careers, and being a full time wife and mother, Theresa has recently been able to immerse herself in her photography with a renewed passion. Theresa’s photography is the beginning of a long journey that is a welcome to her. Some of her images contain images and symbols, which reflect her dreams and inspirations lending a surreal quality to it. While other images capture different themes, the possibilities of light, shadows, contrast, people, and her imagination using a lens of a camera and the technology of a computer in combination. This has compelled her to explore her surroundings and new technologies.

Theresa has been published numerous times in Savannah Magazine as a commercial photographer, editorials photographs in The Savannah Morning News, Coastal Antiques and Art, Tybee Breeze, Home Resource Book, also the cover of Home Resource Book, the cover of “Fertile Prayers, Daily Fertile Prayers” book that is both soft-cover and electronic, and the cover of The Stars and Stripes. Also, promotional photographs used in banners, posters, brochures, the Internet and interior design portfolios. Advertising designs have been published in Southern Living and Home Resource Book. Her work is part of several public and private collections. She and her family have recently relocated to Northern Minnesota and her work is available on-line.
